(UST/AST) PEAKS has completed hundreds of UST/AST closures and assessments in southwest and northeast United States. Most UST systems containing fuel or chemicals have been replaced, upgraded, or removed per 1998 EPA mandate; however, systems constantly undergo monitoring; new systems are installed; and old tanks are discovered. Releases from overfilling, bad piping connections, and tank failures occur. PEAKS utilizes a variety of methods for closure, Phase II investigation, and remediation of UST/AST and associated releases. While most projects are fuel stations, PEAKS has completed tank projects at lumber and maintenance yards, railroad, industrial tank batteries, WWII bunker and aircraft facilities, residential, and agricultural sites.
